If the previous trailer for the seventh season of Game of Thrones didn’t bring you chills, this new trailer will as winter has finally come to Westeros. Set to the haunting tune of “Light of the Seven” by composer Ramin Djawadi, the latest trailer puts on display more key battle sequences in the penultimate season.
While the first trailer focused more on Cersei Lannister’s arc and everyone working against her, the new footage here helps put together a few more pieces of the complete puzzle. We see Euron Greyjoy’s army responsible for attacking our Essos heroes at sea as they sail westward. Little Finger continues his attempts at manipulating Sansa Stark into doing his bidding. Jon Snow has banded together with Beric Dondarrion in a fight against the White Walkers.
There still remains a few questions. Who is Daenerys Targaryen attacking at the castle with her unsullied army? What is Arya up to? Why is Beric Dondarrion wielding a sword on fire, could it be Lightbringer? What is Jamie Lannister going to do about his sister? How much time has passed since Euron Greyjoy ordered his men to build 1,000 ships and did they have all of those giant sails made already or did a group of people furiously sew all of those that quickly? And what does Sansa mean that the lone wolf dies, could she mean Jon Snow?
There’s still no official plot synopsis hinting at what’s to come, but who cares. This trailer paints a great enough picture that fans won’t need to have a written description of what’s to come. Winter is no longer coming, it is here. And is it just me, or does this season look more cinematic then ever? It’s gorgeous.
